Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during an Acupuncture session?

During your treatment session, we will obtain a thorough health history and provide an assessment to create a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. You will then lie comfortably while thin needles are gently placed into Acupuncture points. Most sessions are accompanied with complimentary cupping, guasha, moxibustion, or tuina massage depending on your specific needs.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is not painful. The needles are very fine and are inserted quickly to avoid pain. It is normal to feel an achy, tingling, or distending feeling at the acupuncture points.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the condition being treated, your overall health, and how your body responds to Acupuncture.

You will see cumulative results with each treatment.

Are there any side effects with Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects. Occasionally, mild bruising, soreness, or slight bleeding may occur at the insertion sites. These effects are usually temporary and resolve quickly. It is important to eat before coming for your treatments to avoid any light-headedness after the treatments.

Is Acupuncture covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans may cover Acupuncture treatments. It is recommend that you check with your insurance provider to determine your coverage for Acupuncture services. We will be offering direct billing in the near future.

How should I prepare for an Acupuncture session?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. To ensure your comfort and maximize the benefits of your Acupuncture session, it is recommended that you have a light meal within a few hours of your appointment. This helps maintain stable blood sugar levels and ensures you feel relaxed during your treatment. If you have any concerns or questions about your Acupuncture appointment, please feel free to reach out.

Does cupping and guasha leave marks on the skin?

Cupping and guasha often leave temporary bruising on the skin where applied. The bruising may be pale, red, or purple. These marks typically fade within a few days to a week and are not usually painful.
